Terms of Use
Effective Date:
Version: 2.0
About This Policy
These Terms of Use are the rules for using our websites: Zero Carbon Coffee's own site, every partner storefront we host, and each partner's custom domain. They apply to everyone who loads one of those pages, whether or not you ever buy anything. If you do buy something, our Terms of Service govern the purchase. This document is part of that agreement, but it deliberately contains no separate terms of its own about governing law, disputes, or liability — see “How This Fits With Our Other Documents” at the end.
What You May Do
You are welcome to use our sites to:
- Browse our coffees and read about where they come from
- Place an order or start a subscription
- Manage your account, your subscriptions, and your payment method
- Read our policies
- Contact us for support
What You May Not Do
This list is short and specific, because it describes the things that actually threaten this service rather than every misuse imaginable. You may not:
- Attempt to access another customer's account, order, or personal information
- Attempt to access data belonging to a partner organization other than one you are authorized to act for — each storefront's data is separated, and trying to cross that boundary is a serious violation
- Scrape, crawl, or otherwise access our sites or interfaces by automated means, except for well-behaved search engine crawlers following our robots file
- Guess at, enumerate, or systematically test discount codes
- Place orders using a payment method you are not authorized to use, or otherwise use the service fraudulently
- Work around rate limits, access controls, or a suspension we have applied
- Upload or transmit malware, or otherwise interfere with the operation of the service or the servers behind it
- Copy, resell, or redistribute our content or a partner's content without permission
- Impersonate anyone, or misrepresent your affiliation with us or with a partner
- Use our sites to break the law
Security Research
We would rather hear about a vulnerability than find out the hard way. If you are researching in good faith, report what you find to privacy@zerocarbon.coffee and give us reasonable time to fix it before disclosing it. Do not access, modify, or delete data belonging to anyone else, do not degrade the service for other people, and do not use a finding for any purpose beyond demonstrating it. Research conducted on those terms is authorized, and we will not pursue it.
Site Content
Ownership
Our sites and everything on them — text, photography, product descriptions, design, and software — are owned by us or by our licensors and are protected by intellectual property law.
Your License
We give you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to access and use our sites for your own non-commercial use. That license does not include any right to copy the site, reuse its content commercially, or use it to build a competing product.
Partner Storefronts
A partner storefront carries that partner's brand, copy, and imagery, which belong to the partner. The platform beneath it — the catalog, the checkout, the account area — is ours. A partner is a separate organization, and their appearance on our platform is not our endorsement of anything they say or do off it.
Links to Other Sites
Our sites link to partner websites, social media, and other third-party pages. We do not control them, we are not responsible for their content or their privacy practices, and a link is not an endorsement. Once you follow one, their terms apply, not ours.
Availability and Changes
We do not promise that our sites will always be available. We may change, suspend, or discontinue any part of them, add or remove features, or take them down for maintenance, at any time and without notice. We are not liable to you for doing so.
How We Enforce This
Where we believe this policy has been broken, we may remove content, cancel orders, suspend or end subscriptions, disable an account, block access, and — where the behavior warrants it — report it to law enforcement or cooperate with an investigation. We will use the least disruptive response that addresses the problem, and where the circumstances allow it we will tell you what happened and why. If you think we got it wrong, write to support@zerocarbon.coffee and we will look again.
Reporting a Problem
To report abuse of our service or someone else's misuse of it, write to support@zerocarbon.coffee. To report a security vulnerability, write to privacy@zerocarbon.coffee. To raise a legal or intellectual property concern, including a claim that content on our sites infringes your copyright, write to legal@zerocarbon.coffee.
How This Fits With Our Other Documents
Three documents, three jobs, and no overlap between them:
- Terms of Service — what you are buying, how subscriptions and renewals work, prices, shipping, refunds. It is also the only document that carries governing law, dispute resolution, the liability cap, and indemnification, and those terms apply to this document too.
- Privacy Policy — what information we collect, who we share it with, and what you can ask us to do about it.
- Terms of Use — this document: the rules for using the sites themselves.
Changes to This Policy
We may update these Terms of Use. The effective date at the top of this page reflects the current revision. Continuing to use our sites after a change takes effect means you accept it.
